Box Shake

What is Box Shake?

Box Shake is a difficult and gripping game of skill. There are many different levels, which consist of balls and blue, red and black blocks in boxes. The goal is to collect all the blue blocks with the balls without touching a red block. The game is based on Broken Breakout by Tim Garbos with extra features known from other games. In Box Shake are also collectable stars and a time limit that can be beaten individually for each level. In addition, each level in a section can be played in a harder version after all levels of the section have been won.

What is the content of Box Shake?

It's planned to create 100 handmade levels, mainly sorted by difficulty in 7 sections which are 

• 1. Tutorial Boxes (10 levels)
• 2. Easy Boxes (20 levels)
• 3. Moderate Boxes (20 levels)
• 4. Hard Boxes (20 levels)
• 5. Star Challenges (10 levels)
• 6. Time Challenges (10 levels)
• 7. Level Challenges (10 levels). 

Because of the two different modes you can also see them as 200 Levels, because a hard version of a level may looks similary to it's normal version, but is much harder to win, to collect stars and to beat the time limit.

Which input is supported?

You can play the game with different inputs which are allready tested and all work smooth after a short periode of learning. The supported inputs are

• mouse and optional Keyboard
• gamepads
• touch input

Which plattforms are supported?

Box Shake can be played on desktop computers, smartphones and tablets. The main goal is to support:

• Windows
• Mac
• Android
• iOS

I also want to find out if I can create versions for video game consoles. However, this is currently a topic in which I have no experience and have to look for solutions.

What are my challenges as a developer?

One challenge is to give the game a nice graphic and sound design. Next, and perhaps the hardest task for me, is to create 100 levels, each with 2 versions, 3 collectable stars and a time slot. Sorting them by difficulty, so that they are challenging but not too difficult and keeping in mind that the player will get better at playing over time, requires a lot of adjustments and edits to the levels. The desired result is to provide a suitably challenging gaming experience for as many players as possible, but knowing that it is never possible for all.
